Piers Morgan Offers To Bet One Million Against Virender Sehwag On Social Media

Says England will win an ODI World Cup before India’s next Olympic gold

The ongoing social media battle between former India cricket opener Virender Sehwag and England journalist Piers Morgan took an interesting turn today as the CNN presenter offered a wager that England will win its first ODI World Cup before India wins its next Olympic gold.

It remains to be seen whether the swashbuckling former cricketer will take on the challenge. The tweet containing the wager from Morgan was corrected a few times, after the first one incorrectly implied that India has never had won gold medals at the Olympics.

The barrage of tweets from users pointing out this error to Morgan saw him delete the tweet and post a new one.

The whole saga begun with Morgan posting a snide comment on how India were celebrating 2 medals at the Olympic games, when it had a population of over a billion people. The tweet caused many Indian users to troll him, and even Sehwag joined in the fun poking at England’s inability to win a world cup in the sport they came up with (cricket).

Viru’s tweet saw Morgan admit that it was indeed embarrassing that England never won a world cup in cricket, but offered the absence of Kevin Pietersen as an excuse, which Sehwag scoffed at.
